What is laser engraving?

Laser engraving is the practice of usinglasers to engrave an object. Laser engraving can be used on many different materials. Please see our materials link.

How is laser engraving different from standard engraving?

With the Fiber and CO2 lasers, nothing touches the product. This allows for greater precision since there is no risk of motion or movement.

Also, the CO2 laser does not apply color. It can:

• Extract color from dyed materials (i.e. denim, linens)

• Burn on marking materials to reflective products (i.e. stainless steel or tin)

• Surface mark materials (i.e. leather or wood)

• Cut or engrave materials to accommodate a color fill (i.e. acrylic, stone, corian, marble)

What is dpi?

DPI stands for "dots per inch". When a printer reads an image, the dpi determines how many "dots" of ink will fill each square inch of surface. The higher count of dots, the better quality image.

Most images found on your computer will be the standard: 72dpi. For optimal printing, the minimum recommended is 300dpi.

Will you laser engrave from a sketch?

We can try to do this ourselves or we can send it to a graphic designer to work on it.

We work with a graphic designer that does very good work.
